BC Hydro head office thank you
The ice storm of 1972 was one of the most devastating acts of
nature BC Hydro had ever faced. During the storm, huge
transmission towers collapsed like matchsticks. After the storm was
over, the Hydro headquarters in Vancouver blazed out its
appreciation of the patience and resiliance of the Lower Mainland
residents during the crisis.

BC Electric

Nora Lee

Conductorettes
It was during the Second World War that women started taking on
what were considered traditionally male jobs. Some were highly
visible roles, such as the conductorettes who were first introduced
on the streetcars in September 1943.
